ITC is a unique faculty at the University of Twente. Students and researchers from all over the world come to Enschede to work on sustainability. For them, the faculty is a home base, a meeting place, and a sustainable symbol. The building houses classrooms, labs, a study center, offices, a restaurant, and three patio gardens. According to the BNA (Royal Institute of Dutch Architects), the ITC building at the University of Twente is the Best Building of the Year.
The design is by CIVIC Architects. The interior was designed by Studio Groen+Schild, and the patio gardens by DS.
The building features three atriums, which are designed as gardens. These are three distinct gardens with vegetation from three different subtropical continents.
The planting plan featuring these exotic species was created by Fred Booy, with assistance from Pi Booy.
