The Spaarne Gasthuis in Haarlem is undergoing a major renovation, with new construction of a hospital building, new housing and new parking facilities.
For this new building, a master plan (SVP architecture and urbanism), a basic program of requirements and a feasibility study were developed in 2019. Based on this, DS created the spring 2020 landscape vision and image quality plan landscape for the Spaarne Gasthuis. This was worked out in conjunction with SVP’s urban plans and brought together in the document BKP Spaarne Gasthuis, by SVP, which is now in draft form.
The vision of the future landscape in the planning area is called Healthy Valley. The valley connects all the new buildings into a new Spaarne Gasthuis environment. And reconnects it to the city.
The Healthy Valley is also a nature-inclusive valley. The visual quality plan concretizes the nature-inclusive landscape vision in the regulations for landscape design and building design. It describes more precisely the characteristics of the 5 specific areas.
The task takes place partly for the purpose of the new zoning plan (and accompanying rules) and must be usable for that purpose. Given the circumstances, the planning was done entirely digitally.
DS is now developing the master plan into a Preliminary and Final Land Use Plan.
