Objective
Bart van der Salm (vandersalm-aim.nl) designed the wooden pavilion for the oncology department of Ter Gooi Hospital in Hilversum. Patients can now choose to receive their chemotherapy in the garden. The pavilion is nature-inclusive. The project has been nominated for the Hedy d’Ancona Prize.
Design
The patient sits under a covered area with a view of the planting designed by Fred Booy. The pavilion’s columns are fitted with nesting opportunities for birds and butterflies. The nesting spots and the food-rich planting bring life closer to the patient.
Detail
This spring, a goldcrest built its nest in one of the columns.
