In the Rijnenburg Polder large scale spatial changes are being planned. The intention is to develop housing in a large scale and in a high-grade environment which corresponds with the regional demand for houses. Besides living there is space for working, green and water. Ds was commissioned to make a cultural historical analyses as well as to set up points of departure for the transformation of the Polder Rijnenburg cultural historical landscape.
Analyzing starts with taking an intense look at the landscape going from the present all the way to the far past. Characteristics in appearance are the result of ages of transformation.
Points of departure:
Combine centuries- old regional connections with slow traffic; Define borders and make distinction between both sides of the border; Give a new meaning to special points in the infrastructure; Use height differences in combination with archeology; Keep special morphological spots open for public; Protect monumental farmhouses including the parcels as ensembles.
