In 2003, Tilla Durieux Park at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin was opened. It is a popular and well-used city meadow. However, this also presents a challenge. The grassy slopes are wearing out quickly, and the seesaws have been vandalized. DS is working with and on behalf of the city of Berlin to develop a plan to adjust the current park. The sculptural shape will be preserved. The steep slope will be reinforced in two heavily worn areas with test stair installations. Additionally, the rotation system of the seesaws will be rebuilt and strengthened.
A significant decision has been made regarding the park’s maintenance. The annual contracts for park management led to a downward spiral, so the management period with a single firm will be extended to five years.
In this way, we hope that this beloved park will retain its strong visual appeal for the coming decades.
