We won the tender for Polderweg Amsterdam with the team De Maese Woningen, Paul de Ruiter Architects, DS landschapsarchitecten, Tenderboost and Dakdokters. A remarkable aspect of the building is the walls covered with plants.
Green walls was a demand from the neighbors. The architectural challenge was to make it long lasting and living. The facades have planters on all levels, watered by the polder roof, a special product of Dakdokters. The plants are selected on harsh conditions, sun exposure and support to the biodiversity. Nesting and hiding places for small birds, bats and insects are integrated in the concrete slaps of the balconies.
