Polder Rijnenburg cultural-historical analysis

-

Landscape cultural history analysis (April 2007).

Polder Rijnenburg is again the subject of development. In 2007 we conducted a landscape cultural history analysis on behalf of the City of Utrecht, Cultural History Section. The goal of the section was to make the housing development that was in the pipeline take more account of the long history of this site.
Hidden under the grass is a wealth of information and stories!

The booklet was distributed to the residents of the area, so that the knowledge comes to those who feel ownership of the landscape. Because the development of housing in the polder Rijnenburg has started again, the pdf can now be requested from us with an email to info@dsla.nl.

Triptych to the Natural History Museum Rotterdam

The triptych “What are we waiting for” has been loaned to the municipality of Rotterdam. We’re thrilled about this, as the Core Biotope Map by H+N+S and the municipality of Rotterdam, as well as the projects Rotta Nova, Hofbogen Park, and Tidal Park Keilehaven, are current and must be seen now. Ingeborg Berger and Sander Klaassen agreed. The first destination of the triptych is the Natural History Museum in Rotterdam, where it is displayed in the exhibition Rotterdam National Park. From the end of October, it will be accompanied by a text panel and an explanatory video.

IARB 2024 – What are we waiting for?

What are we waiting for? It is time that we, designers of the human biotopes, serve in the interest of all living creatures. The next step in civilisation is to regenerate life on earth. Therefore, we should invent new design theories, starting with educating for a nature inclusive design approach. Simultaneously, we should work on aesthetics that make urban wilding desirable and feasible. If we do succeed, they will ask: how did they do it? They achieved this just in time, strategically, and with the power of beauty.

1st and 2nd Guide to Nature Inclusive Design.

Whereas wild nature in the city is a relief to some, many still perceive it as neglect. If we want to increase support for nature-inclusive living, we need to look for the aesthetics of wilderness; the theme of this guide.
